Lagos Island Local Government Vocational Education Institute Holds Its 2nd Historical Graduation Ceremony
Lagos Island Local Government Vocational Education Institute Organized its 2nd Historical Graduation Ceremony with the Themed “Effect of Vocational Skill in Economic Transformation” from 2019/2024 sets on Saturday 13th April 2024 at the Dr. Teslim Ellias Primary School oja – oba Isale Eko. Lagos Island.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Adetoyese Tijani Olusi duly represented by the Vice Chairman Hon. Muhammad Rosul Eshinlokun in his speech states that it is an opportunity for them to acquire a skill different from the secular education in other for them to be self-independent and add value to the growth and development of the nation. He also states that they will be employee of labour instead of seeking for white collar jobs. He as well emphasized that the opportunity given to them is also a source of livelihood.
The Institute Principal, Alhaja Agboola Faosat in her welcome address, appreciate everyone for coming. She also admonished the students to be well behaved and make good use of the skills acquired. She used the opportunity to request for a quick rebuild of the Institute Permanent Site to create space to accommodate more intending students so has to reduce the rate of idle hands on the streets of Lagos Island. She further encouraged the parents and guardian’s to support their children and wards to build themselves.
Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Suraj Ali Balogun who lectured the Grandaunts on the Impact of Vocational Skills on the Economy of Nigeria expressed that they are CEOs, Entrepreneurs and Employer of Labor, They should have intuition on what they have learnt to develop their skills, be focused, have a growth mindset and they should stand out in everything they do. He also advised them to acquiring more knowledge on their skills.
One of the Founders of Lagos Island Connect and also a Partner of the Institute Ms. Yemisi Ransome Kuti also took time out to give the Grandaunts some words of knowledge. She advised that they should make good use of their time and skills, also learn to work smart and learn how to be a problem solver in their trained fields and their words should be their bonds .She also encouraged them not to compromise in the days of challenges, they should have courage and confidence in themselves. She gave the best overall student miss Alogba Esther, a whopping sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) and promised to be a continuous donation for overall best Students yearly.
Special adviser on special duties Hon Dimeji Shina Saba also added his voice advised the Graduands and the youths at large that irrespective of attained academic background should ensure they learn skilled handworks so that wherever they find themselves they would be productive to the society not being redundant, he stated by ensuring they acquire trained skilled vocational they would always add to the development of the society.
The Vote of Thanks for the event was given by the HOD Education & library services. Mr Olufemi Moriu Ojikutu.
Other dignitaries present were Exco Members, Management Team, and Parents of the Graduanes among other dignitaries.
