Aminat Junaid-Eko, Aishat Muhammed Win Spelling Bee Competition In Secondary, Primary Categories On Lagos Island Local Government

▪ Primary Category Winner To Be Crowned One-Day Chairman

Aminat Junaid-Eko, a student of Isale-Eko senior secondary school, Lagos Island, has emerged as the winner of Spelling Bee Competition organised by the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Lagos State Ministry of Education.

In a keenly contested competition, Junaid-Eko emerged first. Francis Emmanuel clinched the second position while Qowiat Oyebanjo came third.

In the primary category, Miss Aishat Muhammed of Anwar-Islam Primary school clinched first position, Miss Amdalat Yusuf  came second while Master Hayet Elegbeleye emerged third.

In his speech,the executive chairman,Hon. Taiwo Oyekan, represented by the vice chairman, Hon. Olatunji Arulai Folami said the spelling competition will sharpen spelling skills and upscale  knowledge of words of the students.

“I enjoin the winners, participants, and students across Lagos Island to concentrate on their studies and set personal goals to achieve academic success”, He said.

On her part, the Chairperson, Mrs. Bolajoko Oyekan, represented by the wife of the vice chairman, Mrs. Kehinde Arulai Folami lauded the initiator of Spelling Bee Competition, Her Excellency, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu. She stated that the educational development programme has improved students’ literacy skills, vocabulary, reading comprehension, public speaking, and confidence.

The acting council manager and Head, Department of Education, Mrs. Aminat Olanike Lawal tasked the students to study harder. She urged teachers to empower themselves with modern teaching techniques.

Miss Junaid-Eko attributed her victory to handwork and grace of God.

“I thank my teachers and colleagues who encouraged and supported. I really appreciate the chief host of Spelling Bee Competition on Lagos Island, Mrs. Bolajoko Oyekan for providing the platform to showcase our spelling skills.

Following her emergence as the winner in the primary category, Miss Aishat Muhammed will act as a One-Day Chairman of Lagos Island local government at a date to be announced by the executive chairman, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan.

The secondary and primary school categories winners will represent the local government at the state level.
