1. Budget Preparation and Coordination

The department is primarily responsible for the preparation and coordination of the annual budget of the Local Government. It works closely with all departments and units to collate, review, and harmonise budget proposals, ensuring that available resources are allocated efficiently and in line with government priorities. It also monitors budget performance, tracks expenditure, and ensures compliance with approved financial plans.

The department also evaluates ongoing and completed projects to ensure value for money and effective service delivery.

3. Statistical Data Collection and Analysis

The Statistics unit within the department is responsible for data collection, analysis, and management. This includes demographic data, economic indicators, and service delivery metrics that are essential for planning and policy formulation.
