Empowering Local Government Staff: The ICT Training Initiative in Lagos Island
In a significant move to enhance digital literacy, the ICT Unit of Lagos Island Local Government recently conducted another batch of comprehensive training program for staff members. This initiative, aimed at fostering computer appreciation and proficiency, was made possible through the commendable efforts of the Lagos Island LGA Chairman, Hon. Adetoyese Tijani Olusi.
The workshop was meticulously structured to provide a hands-on experience in various aspects of computer usage, with a special focus on Microsoft office tools. This choice of software is strategic, considering its widespread use in data management and analysis, which are critical skills in today’s technology-driven administrative tasks.
Leading the training was Engr. Abdulai Ahmed Obafemi, the Head of the ICT Unit, whose expertise and guidance were instrumental in the successful delivery of the program. Participants were taken through the nuances of Microsoft Office tools, from basic functionalities to more complex operations, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the application.
Adding to the richness of the training, the Vocational School Principal, Mrs. Agboola, played a pivotal role in working closely with the participants. Her contribution underscored the importance of integrating practical educational methods within the framework of professional development.
The workshop also featured sessions led by Mr. Adeyemi, whose tutoring skills further enhanced the learning experience. His ability to translate complex concepts into relatable knowledge was highly appreciated by the attendees.

Gracing the session was the presence and good-will messages by the newly deployed Council Manager (CM) Mrs. Abdul-Kareem Yesirat who encouraged and enjoined the participants to get serious with the training as it opens a lot of opportunity and as well build their confidences and make them more diligence at their work duties, in Accompany to the CM is the HRO, Mr, Okusanya followed by the HOD Environment, and other management staffs, The HOD Budget Mrs. Avoseh, alongside HOU Tourism Mrs. Alogba all showed their solidarity and support in ensuring the participants are well inclined.
