Lagos Island Mayor, Hon. TAIWO OYEKAN  Launches School Feeding Programme For Public Primary School Pupils

Hon. TAIWO OYEKAN, the executive chairman of Lagos Island local government, has once again demonstrated his commitment to promoting universal basic education with the launch of ‘PTO School Feeding Programme’, today Wednesday 29 October, 2025 at the Dr. Teslim Elias Model Primary School, Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island,  Lagos.

The educational intervention initiative is inline with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Addressing community leaders, stakeholders, and pupils, Hon. Oyekan stated that the social welfare scheme was designed to provide balanced diet meals and boost learning ability
among public primary school pupils on Lagos Island local government area.

Continuing, He said: “With this initiative, my administration is poised to increase school enrolment and retention. The PTO School Feeding  Programme will lessen financial burden on parents and guardians”.

Alh. Qudus Abari, the Education Secretary, Lagos Island local government enjoined the pupils to concentrate on their studies. He charged the food vendors to provide quality meals for the young learners.

“The PTO School Feeding Programme is the first of its kind in Lagos State”, Alh. Abari said. The Head, Department of Education, Mrs. Aminat Lawal commended the council Chairman’s strides in the education sector since he assumed office.

Speaking onbehalf of the pupils, Master Samuel Awobajo of Dr. Teslim Elias Model Primary School expressed appreciation to Hon. Oyekan. He described the local government chairman as a lover of children and education.

Recall that Hon. Oyekan had rolled out free school buses and distributed learning materials to public primary school pupils across the area council.
